Leadmine Mountain Trail Sturbridge, MA

Sunday slow down to celebrate what’s still green and growing, and what there is to notice in the season’s turning over as we approach the fall equinox. Autumn’s emergence is my favorite time of year, the air and light land more open and golden, still so much to harvest and put away to ready ourselves for the growing cold. Plant walks are part of my own mindfulness practice; bringing attention to the environment and engaging the senses with who we have come to identify and know is nourishing to the nervous system. Learning of the life supporting resources around us is emotionally and physiologically fortifying. Scents, sights and tastes offer a path to arriving back into the body and rooting ourselves into the places we call home.

This walk will take place at Leadmine Mountain Trail in Sturbridge, MA on Old Sturbridge Village Road. There is a dirt parking lot and I will meet you at the main entrance.

It is a beautiful loop with wide & well maintained, flat trails, a gorgeous pond and marsh. Wear comfortable shoes you don’t mind getting potentially wet or dirty. This will be an educational walk and talk on how to identify and  sustainably harvest what we see by way of wild foods and herbs. I will discuss culinary and medicinal preparations therein. At the end of our walk, we’ll have time to gather for questions and discussion while enjoying a complimentary wild foods snack and botanical beverage that I will be bringing to share.
